Natural
Explainations
This article is a collection of arguments that we encountered
while conducting extensive research into the paranormal and occult.
We have summarized them here not to debunk the paranormal, but
rather to provide thoughtful explanations for the causes of it.
Ultrasonic
waves
Some ghostly phenomena may have a scientific explanation after
all, and it is not all in the mind. New research into some hauntings
as revealed that most of the classic signs of ghosts can be explained
as the result of very low frequency sound waves trapped inside
buildings.
Fear
factor
Human fear plays a large role and ghost sightings and the experiences.
When people began to believe that they have a ghost haunting their
home the natural fears involved push the experiences along, creating
an environment where anything, no matter how logical, become something
supernatural. People read about haunted houses and listen to what
friends tell them even if the information is wrong.
The
truth about orbs
Orbs are a very controversial item in the paranormal investigation
field. The fact is that 98% of all "orbs" are caused
by dust, water droplets or other airborne particles. There's dust
in the air all the time, even if you can't see it. The amount
and type of dust varies a lot and depends on many factors, including
source, climate, wind direction and activity. This article explains
what to look for in false positives.
How
to determine if a photograph was faked using an image editing
program
There are scientific ways to determine if an image was manipulated
in a computer program. This article is a generalized scientific
guideline for looking at photos purporting to show paranormal
phenomena. The scientific field of photography analysis can be
quite complex, so we are only going to go over the two easiest
techniques.

Geomagnetic
Activity and Paranormal Experience
Twenty five well-documented (and published by Stevenson in 1970)
cases of intense paranormal ('telepathic') experiences concerning
death or illness of friends of family were analyzed according to
the global geomagnetic activity (the aa index) as the times of their
occurrence.
Sleep
Paralysis
Sleep experts have long known about sleep paralysis, but research
in the latest issue of the medical journal Neurology offers them
a better idea of how common it is and what the risk factors might
be. According to a new study, roughly 6 percent of all people have
had at least one episode of sleep paralysis, while slightly less
than 1 percent have at least one episode a week. Is sleep paralysis
responsible for some ghostly activity?
Minute
Electromagnetic Signals and Human Consciousness
Contemporary neuroscience suggests the existence of fundamental
algorithms by which all sensory transduction is translated into
an intrinsic, brain specific code. Direct stimulation of these codes
within the human temporal or limbic cortices by applied electromagnetic
patterns may require energy levels which are within the range of
both geomagnetic activity and contemporary communication networks.
Could this explain the phenomena of ghosts?
Orbs
....Smorbes
Well, it's time to put in my two cents on the "orb phenomenon"
-- though, by the time I am done, it may be more like two dollars...First
off, I want to say that I do not automatically discredit or seek
to debunk claims of the unusual. I have been around enough odd things
myself that I cannot completely discount *any* possibilities. Heck,
I do energy healing! Which is an "out-there" area so far
as many people are concerned, and difficult to "prove".
So I know what it's like to have people look at one askance. a skeptical
