Nestled along the main road running through
the small village of Corrales, NM, Prized Possessions is a jewelry/collectible
shop and has been such since 1995. The "All Dolled Up"
Show, an exhibit featuring sculptured dolls by Creative Doll Society
of New Mexico and Kokopelli's Enchanted Dolls, is often hosted by
the business.
The building's past, however, has seen a
wide variety of purposes since it's erection in 1910. The building,
among other things, has served as a mattress factory, storage for
farm equipment, a post office, and a society for men.
SGHA was told that at one point, a small boy was murdered on the
grounds after he hid under a haystack from an intruder. The intruder
found him and eventually killed the boy. SGHA was unable to confirm
the story or it's details.

Owners of the establishment report a variety of
occurrences from phantom animals, apparitions, voices, moving objects,
etc. The current owners believe one spirit to be that of a "guardian"
who sits atop the wooden rafter overlooking the store, and often appears
as a musician. There is also an older woman sighted with a bun in her
hair, as well as man that walks through the main gift shop area who is
said to have blonde flat-top like hair and a baggie shirt. A phantom cat
is reported in the back room/office of the shop and the owners do report
that "something" throws a chew toy for their dog, Ginger.
The owners report having things happen almost right away upon taking over
the building. Figures are reported to be seen in the front main area,
papers are heard rustling in the back storage area, bottles of dish soap
are reported to have moved, as well as the lights and oven being turned
off and on. The owners daughter has also claims to have had her shoulders
rubbed and her hair being blown on as she sits down to do work at the
computer located in the back storage area. Overall activity, however,
is said to have calmed down recently.
We arrived at 7:30 to decide on a game plan for
the investigation. It was decided that Kat would interview the owner,
Janet, while Kristin, Ashley, Josh, and Dave swept the building for initial
EM readings and pictures. Several fairly high EM Readings were found,
but most can be attributed to man-made/electrical sources due to being
static in nature. Josh did receive a spike of 10 mg while taking readings
near the wooden rafters, a field that he could not find again. The meter
that he was using at the time is calibrated at 50/60 HZ, so it's difficult
to rule out this reading as being AC in nature. Although one picture that
is of interest was taken in conjunction with this reading.
While Kat continued to conduct her interview, the team moved into the
back storage area of the shop and swept the area for more EM fields. No
strange fields were found that could not be pinpointed to a mundane source.
One interesting occurrence did, however, happen to Josh at 8:45 pm. As
the team continued to investigate the back room, Josh distinctly smelled
the odor of an old cat litter box. Josh claims that the smell was quite
strong but vanished after several minutes. Upon inquiry about this, Josh
didn't know the history of any paranormal phenomena involving any animals.
We asked about their possibly being a source present in the room that
could be causing the smell, but the owners informed us that they didn't
own anything that could be contributing to the odor.
At approx 9 pm, Investigation was suspended and the team gathered to discuss
it's findings.
