Location Description and History

Bernalillo County was established 8 January 1852. It was one of the seven Partidos, established during Mexican rule. It may have been named for the Gonzales-Bernal family that lived in the area before 1692. The county seat is Albuquerque.

The first courthouse in Albuquerque was built in 1886 at a cost of $62, 053.81 and was constructed of gray stone with a peaked shingled roof exterior tower reaching three stories high. The courthouse stood at the current San Felipe Elementary School site in Old Town. Once the demand for another school surfaced, the courthouse was relocated to New Town (present day downtown area). This "new" courthouse was built in 1926 with bricks imported from Colorado. Built in the center of it's own park, the symmetrical design gave the building a Grecian, temple of justice effect. In 1964, the courthouse was remodeled and expanded. Its outer surface was also refinished with sheets of marble (Photo at left). A more modern courthouse was built and completed in 2001, leaving the older building empty.

Reported Phenomena

In 2003 the Community Service group has been cleaning out the old courthouse downtown. In the basement rooms they've been collectively witnessing strange things. A worker reported seeing a little girl standing in one of the dark halls, she was a blonde with braids, wearing a school uniform. When the witness smiled at the little girl , she vanished.

A cold spot in another hall was experienced by the lead-man himself. He was unable to find a vent or source to explain it. All of the JDC "clients" that were doing the CS work were taking a break in one of the rooms, and an old law book circa 1920's went skittering down the hall. It came to a stop in the cold zone. Nobody's been willing to touch it.

Two people reportedly died in the building - both of heart attacks. A Sheriff at his desk in the basement and another man on an upper floor. Reportedly employees have tried doing little 'tests' - placing objects in certain places and placing a dry eraser on a door knob, etc and then returning to find these objects moved.

Other things that have been exercised are cold spots, hot spots, lights being turned off, doors being closed and locked when a key is required and boxes that were taped closed being opened and contents strewn about.

The Investigation

During our search of the building, we located one odd EM frequency at 33Hz (4 nt). A photograph taken during the measurement contained an abnormality. No EVP samples were recorded.

Initial Conclusions

Report of Solar and Geophysical Activity

IA. Analysis of Solar Active Regions and Activity from 12/2100Z to 13/2100Z: Solar activity has been very low. A new region was numbered today as Region 522 (S16W50).
IB. Solar Activity Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be very low to low.
IIA. Geophysical Activity Summary 12/2100Z to 13/2100Z:
The geomagnetic field has been at unsettled to minor storm conditions. The coronal hole high speed stream continued to keep
solar wind speeds averaging between 700-800 km/s with Bz fluctuations between +/- 5 nT. The greater than 2 MeV electron flux at geosynchronous orbit was at very high levels today.
IIB. Geophysical Activity Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be at unsettled to active levels for 14-15 Dec. Quiet
to unsettled conditions are expected on 16 Dec.
III. Event Probabilities 14 Dec-16 Dec
