Location Description and History

Casa Armijo was constructed of adobe around 1706 by El Colorado Don Juan Armijo y Maestas, and later sold to Ambrosio Armijo. It is the classic placita (little plaza) style, developed for defense against raiding by nomadic Native Americans.

The Casa Armijo is haunted by at least 4 spirits, according to the present managers of the building. The vast majority of reported phenomena seems to occur in the women's restroom and upstairs area.

The four spirits are a little girl named Victoria, a unidentified woman called Elizabeth, a mischievous ghost named George and a unnamed specter which inhabits one of the rooms upstairs.

Reported Phenomena

The latest phenomena recorded is listed below:

Security guard patrolling Old Town spots a woman and little girl in the hallway of the building after midnight. The restaurant is closed and empty.

Victoria is seen during a wedding reception held in her old room. She vanished when approached by people from the party.

Victoria is seen again by the customers on the Old Town ghost tour around 10:30pm. She was seated in the back of the hallway and walked towards the window, where the customers were, before vanishing before their eyes.

The Investigation

We arrived at 8:30pm and focused on the hallway where recent sightings had occurred. One camera was positioned at the rear of the hallway, shooting forward. This camera obtained the most interesting images.

Meanwhile, team members searched the adjacent rooms and the upstairs area.

Initial Conclusions

Electromagnetic Environment Analysis

Spectral Analysis of the unusual EM field found around the old stairs reveal an intermittent fluctuation of 20 Hz to 30 Hz. The power of the fields wildly fluctuated in the ranges between 4 mg and 7 mg with occasional full scale spikes (higher than 10 mg) that reached up to 50 Hz.

At present there is no explanation for the EM field that is present on the stairs. The nearest power line to the stairs is approximately 2 meters behind and below the staircase towards the east of the building.

The field seems to be more defined and constant after 9:00pm, which is when the restaurant closes. Cutting off the power to the building at the breaker box does not have any effect on the frequency and power of the EM field on the stairs, thus separating it from any possible bad wiring connections to the main power of the building.

F.  Comments:  This message is for users of the NOAA/SEC Space Weather Operations sunspot region numbers. As you
may have noticed, region number 10000 was assigned on June 14. Space Weather operations is going  through the sequence of Region numbers as 9998,  9999, 0000, 0001, and so on. SEC's product text discussions of the active regions will ignore the
leading zeroes (for example, we will say 'Region number 5' rather than Region number '0005'). However, the Geoalert product, the Region Report product, as well as the USAF and IUWDS data exchange codes will preserve the 4 digit format. The necessity of using four digits is for operational purposes only. For historical purposes all regions beyond Region 9999
will be understood to be in a series of region numbers 10000 and higher.
