Location Description and History

Bob pointing out the location where George fired upon Miss Edmonds.
Behind him is the Edmund house, remodeled long ago.

This historic bed and breakfast was home to a lonesome miner who's story tragically unfolded on April 14th, 1888.

The miner's name was George Daves, who had fallen in love with the girl across the street, Miss Cleopatra Edmunds. They dated and eventually made plans to marry. In a attempt to make a life for himself, George went to work at a mine, located about 40 miles from Casa Grande, and often stayed away for long periods of time.

After one long absence, he returned to discover that Cleopatra had fallen for another man. After a restless night's sleep, he obtained a gun and went across the street to Miss Edmund's home.

On that fatal day, Cleopatra was outside in her front yard, when George approached the fence bordering her front yard. He raised his pistol and fired several times.

Miss Edmunds was struck by one of the bullets just below the lower point of her shoulder blade, passing through the right lung and body and then exited her body at the left margin of the right arm pit. Such a wound in those days was considered to be lethal. George then raised the pistol to his head and shot himself. Cleopatra was taken to a local doctor, Dr. Goodfellow and remarkably managed to survive her wound and eventually died of old age.

Reported Phenomena

George has not completely left. He now haunts his former residence and unusual incidents have been reported there. The phenomena includes the sightings of his apparition and mischievous pranks such as the moving of objects. Clocks on the second floor also have a habit of going off at 6:00am, even if the alarm has not been set.

The Investigation

We arrived at the Bufford house with Polo, the producer of the Donovan show for 93.7 KRQ. After checking in, we proceeded to a variety of locations in Tombstone before returning to the Bed and Breakfast. The entire ghost hunt was filmed by Bob using an infrared video camera.

We started searching the main floor and came across several interesting EM fields accompanied with unusual images in the photographs. During one of these episodes, the investigators heard a strange noise coming from a doorway to the restroom of one of the lower suites. when Cody moved to check out the source of the noise, the IR camera recorded a small white object flying out of the area.

The team then moved to the second floor. while searching one of the west bedrooms, several investigators heard the sound of footsteps coming up the stairs. Assuming it was one of the caretakers, Cody moved towards the stairway to greet him. however, there was no one on the stairs, only the sound of somebody coming up them. Cody took a photograph of the staircase and a white image is visible in the photograph. The white image also casts a shadow, showing that it is a solid object that was somehow invisible to the naked eye.

After the ghost hunt was completed, we headed off to bed. bob asked Cody if he should set the alarm on the wind up clock or not. Cody told him not to worry about because the owners ring a bell in the morning to announce breakfast.

Later that night rather interesting thing happened to Bob. He was just about to doze off when the the light near the door turned off and the lamp near the bed turned on. Bob raised up his head and said out loud, "Bugger off and put the lights back the way they were!".

The bedside lamp turned off and the light by the door turned back on. However, the ghost wasn't through with Bob. At 6:00 in the morning, the clock's alarm went off, despite the fact that Bob did not even bother to wind up the clock.

Video 1

Two interesting portions of the ghost hunt at the Bufford house contained unusual and/or interesting images.

Video 1

This video was taken on the first floor of the house. Investigators present in the room hear a noise coming from the bathroom that sounds like a heavy object being moved around. Right after Cody opens the door, an "orb-like" object flies into view. The bathroom was empty and photographs taken by Cody right after this event show a mist-like image in three photos (taken one after the other).

Video 2

The second video was taken in an upstairs bedroom. After an investigators calls out that she has found an unusual electromagnetic field, lost it and cannot find it again, the camera moves as Bob searches the room. An "orb-like" object moves up near the wall on the left side of the bed.

Initial Conclusions

Several interesting photographs were taken during the ghost hunt that were coupled with unusually high D/C electromagnetic fields and drops in temperature of 10 to 20 degrees.

The two that are the most interesting (thumbnailed on the left) have white images in them that cast shadows. This shows that those objects are in 3-D space and not a photographic artifact.

The D/C electromagnetic fields that were present when these photographs were taken fluctuated between 5 to 13 milligauss. The fields were present for 10 seconds on the first event and 23 seconds on the second event.

The sound of footsteps coming up the stairs was clearly heard during event 2.
